Corrections and removal

The alliance publishes information about companies that it was not given by those companies. This page sets out how to get that information corrected or removed.

The commitment

Where the alliance publishes an entry about a company, the company can have it corrected, updated or removed. No justification is required, and there is no fee. This applies to directory entries and to any mention of a company in published material.

How to make a request

Email corrections@globalchargingalliance.com with:

  1. The URL of the page or entry concerned
  2. What should change — corrected, updated, or removed entirely
  3. For corrections and updates, the wording you would like used
  4. For a removal, simply say that you want the entry removed

You do not need to explain why. If you are acting for the company concerned, a note confirming that is helpful but not required for a removal.

What happens next

Step Timescale
Request acknowledged Within 3 working days
Entry removed or amended Within 5 working days
Confirmation sent, with the change recorded On completion

Removals are actioned first and verified afterwards. If a request is urgent — for example where an entry names an individual — say so in the subject line and it is treated as priority.

What cannot be corrected this way

The correction process covers information about a company. It does not cover:

  • A disagreement with a factual statement about a standard or regulation, unless the statement is wrong. Corrections of that kind are welcome and are handled through the same address.
  • A request to remove a page that does not name the requesting company.
  • A request to add marketing language, rankings or claims about product performance. The directory records verifiable company information, not promotional copy.

Record of changes

Where a correction changes the meaning of a published guide — as opposed to fixing a typo or updating a company detail — the change is recorded on the page itself, with the date.

Directory entries that are removed are removed completely. The alliance does not keep a public record of removals, because a list of removals would itself disclose the thing the company asked to have removed.

Escalation

If a request is not actioned within the timescales above, or is refused without a reason that falls within the limits described on this page, write to info@globalchargingalliance.com marking the message for the secretariat. It will be reviewed by someone who was not involved in the original decision.
